"There is no fear in love; but perfect love, casts out fear because fear involves torment." 1 John 4:18.
Some personalities have a more difficult time accepting the love of God for themselves, even though they believe in Him as personal Savior. What I mean is that while one may believe God loves YOU, it is harder to rest in the truth that God really loves ME. The irony in that is this, I cannot extend to others fully what I have not received first.
The struggle to receive love, may be based on your difficult circumstances and lack of comfort and ease in this life. These are not good indicators of the depth of love God has for you, nor the lack there of which you may be tempted to deduce. He is love as this passage in 1 John teaches. His character won't suddenly veer from being who He is. Why should we sit with this thought? His love is our firm foundation for life and without it, we give way to fear.
Fear gives place to all sorts of trouble, worry, anxiety, stolen time, and mind space. Fear is a tormentor. God has no desire for such in your life. He is for your good. His perfect love casts out fear. What are you afraid of? The list of possibilities is endless but so is His love. We cannot underestimate the importance of believing in God's love for us personally. It is that very thing that protects us from all sorts of harm.
Dear one, meditate on God's perfect love and personalize it today. When you focus on His love, all fear will be cast out. Fear is a tormentor, but God is love.
